Our Team

Pastor Dave Larson was installed in 2018 after serving as the vacancy pastor. Pastor Dave and his wife Heather have served at churches in Waconia and Minneapolis. They have five children: Grace, Eli, Micah, Lydia, and Abigail. Pastor Dave enjoys sports, coaching his children’s teams, and working on his yard. He is also a chaplain for the Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, and Metro Transit Police Department. You can email Pastor Dave at pastor@stjohnwoodbury.org.

Samantha Davis joined our team in 2025 as the Director of Christian Education, after previously serving overseas in Hungary and at a church in Southern Illinois. She and her husband Kendall have been married since 2023. In her role at St. John, Sam assists with Bible studies and Christian education for all ages, but especially working with youth. Dr. Ji  Young  Lee joined the team in 2026. She began playing the piano at the age of 3 and is married to Hyeon Weon Shin, a broadcast producer and movie director, with two sons, David and Daniel.

She has won numerous international competitions, performed at Carnegie Hall, and now teaches at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls. She also serves as a faculty member and former music director of AIPAF (Asia International Piano Academy and Festival), artistic director for the Minnesota Concert Series, faculty member at Bethel University Summer Piano Academy, and judge for multiple competitions.

Just as Bach popularized church music globally, her dream is to preserve this legacy through ministry at Saint John’s Church—to glorify God and cultivate gifted musicians.

Becca has been married to Aaron since 2004, and together they have three children: Taylor, Carson and Lucie. They live in Woodbury and have been members of St. John since 2012. Before dedicating multiple years to raising her family, she worked with autistic children, applying her background in social work. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and playing cards—especially beating Aaron at Cribbage! You can email Becca at: stjohn@stjohnwoodbury.org

Crystal has worked with St. John since 2019. She also works in a Communications role with other churches and religious non-profits. In her role with St. John, she oversees the website, social media, and other online systems. Crystal is also a poet and a novelist. In her spare time, she enjoys walking in the woods, reading, journaling, taking photos of everything (you should see her camera roll!), and spending time with her senior dog, Mina.
